Fireworks Night 2011 — A review

A big thank you to all of those who attended the Leapfrog sponsored fireworks event at the Guernsey Rugby Club.
It was our 4th consecutive year of sponsoring the fireworks and it’s fair to say that from the initial feedback received it was the best ever. Conservative estimations suggest there were 4000 people who attended the event so a big thank you to to each and every one of you.
I would also like to extend a big thank you to all involved in the organisation of the event. Being part of the Rugby Committee myself I know the amount of time and effort it takes to organise such a large event and I think it’s fair to say that everyone did a great job. The fireworks were the best in the island, the guy fawkes competition had a good number of entrants and everyone was well catered for by the BBQ and Bar teams, who perhaps had the hardest job of the lot! The night was also really well rounded of by the band “Re-discovering Pluto” who played in the clubhouse after the fireworks.
The result of all this effort and the generosity of the Guernsey community is that we were able to raise some much needed funds which goes to support Rugby at all levels in the island. As the main sponsor we are pleased to be able to help with this and put on a free event for the people of Guernsey.
